Over the years I’ve written many birthday greetings for people in many circles, and at some point I started to suspect I was repeating myself. That is to say, even when I dedicated myself to writing from the heart… perhaps this was exactly what I’d written last year? And the one before that? And then I had an idea- to make the age central to the birthday wishes. The numerical value of the age isn’t a peripheral detail; it has the potential to make the greeting much more unique and fascinating, a card to remember.
